Why “Pulling An All Nighter Is Conning The Client”

I have been involved with many organisations who have boasted about “pulling and all nighter” In other words working all night to complete something. I have to admit that when I was young and stupid I also believed this con job and worked several all nighters to get something finished on time.

So if it helps to hit a deadline why is pulling and all nighter conning the client?

I’ve never met a client yet who has said that they have no problem with people doing an important piece of work whilst drunk and yet science shows us that a sleep deprived individual has the same attention and concentration abilities as someone who has consumed two or three pints of beer, in some cases more.

There is no way anyone in this condition can be effective and there is no way that working stupid hours is effective. Science proves it, there is no debate.

So if you have a team of people at your super expensive lawyers working on your mega important contract who have been working all night on it, or even worse working on something for another client the night before doing your work you are basically employing a team of drunks.

Charging a client for work done whilst you are knowingly incapable of doing a proper job is a con job and that’s why pulling an all nighter is conning the client.

Think of this and check the situation before engaging anyone,  especially  a firm of so called professionals that prides itself on working silly hours. You might not be getting what you think, especially if you are expecting their full attention.
